Result: Alpha won by 6 wickets
Even a descent batting performance could not stop CTCC from losing another game in the league. And now we are at a must win stage, every game is very important for us. A win in the game against Alpha could have secured us a place in final SIX, but still we have a good chance. CTCC won the toss and opted to bat for a change. CTCC Innings Praveen and Abhay started the proceedings for CTCC. It almost seemed to be a good start but Abhay was bowled around his legs in the second over. There was a unwanted rush among the batsman from the very first over. Kaushal started his neat hitting from the word go, but unfortunatly got himself run-out. Neeraj, Kapil and Vinay threw their wickets without adding much to the score soon. CTCC was again in a familiar situation with score reading 24/6. Thanks to a wonderful partnership between Aashish and Samar which took the score from 24 to 56 when Aashish was caught at forward shortleg. Samar followed the suit soon after. Sumit and Vijay seemed to stay there at wicket but Sumit was found walking outside the crease and was run out. Score read 59 all out. Not bad, better than last time. Alpha Innings Alpha knew what to do, so did CTCC but it was just that it was not CTCC's day. Initial break through came when Abhay lured Mani to hit the ball over Santosh's head, but wud Santosh let it go. Next over Vijay produced a beauty which took the bat's edge flew to slip where Samar tried a very low catch, was not able to hold on to it but was still able to dig the ball up to find Vinay completing the catch. The next two batsman didnot try anything silly and keep on rotating the strike. Two catches dropped and CTCC lost the advantage (As if there was any). Kaushal produced a beautiful over when Alpha needed just one to win. Alpha finished the innings in 17th over. In pursuit of finding steadiness in our batting, I think we are losing what we were good at, bowling. Bowlers didn't get wickets when it was most required. But in coming games we cannot afford any letharginess. We'll be there.
