Detroit Cricket Club League, Season 2003
CTCC v UCC
High Meadow School 1, Farmington Hills, MI
26 Jul 2003 (25-over match)

Result: UCC won by 76 runs

CTCC won the toss and elected to field first. Their strategy was to attack and they set a very attacking fielding. They decided to get the other team all out, rather than focusing on finishing the 25 overs. CTCC had a good start. Vijay took the wickets of the two openers. UCC did loose two quick wickets but they didn't get bogged down. They didpunish the loose balls. CTCC did bowl a lot of full tosses and short pitch balls and the outfield having very little grass was very fast on the leg side and UCC did score a plenty of runs. Senthil, Raviraj and Vasan scored good runs for UCC. Neeraj got Senthil once he looked settled and dangerous and CTCC came back in match but then Raviraj and Vasan played well to get UCC out of trouble. In the end they set a imposing target or 134 for CTCC to win. UCC started with two very good pace bowlers. One of then had a suspect action. It was reported to the umpire but was overruled. Disaster hit CTCC at the start when Vijay got runout. Then one devastating over from UCC captain Radha removed 3 middle order batsman in quick succession. One of the decision was very controversial though when Kapil playing well on the front foot was given LBW after a long appeal by the umpire. Overall CTCC thought that they got the short end of the stick as far as umpiring was concerned. Samar played with great sensibility but he did not get much support from other end. In the end CTCC's inning got folded at 57 giving UCC a easy victory. Next two matches are very important for CTCC now. They need to be more careful with bowling loose balls and should bowl according to their field. The batsman need to be apply themselves better too.
