Placing of this outlet became a matter of finding a location with commonality to it's various uses I had in mind. Should I need the use of someplace to plug in my tire inflator; this power outlet is next to the door. The outlet is just under the edge of a counter space to utilize kitchen appliances. During warm parts of the year it is a power supply for a cooling fan. Honestly, it is normally used to provide a mounting place and power supply to a digital volt meter. (the black Velcro in the picture helps to mount the voltage meter) |

The picture on the right shows a greater view of the area with the 12 volt receptacle. When I decided to install the receptacle I read thru the electrical wire schematics to determine the best / suggested place to splice into the 12 volt power. The schematics actually suggested tapping into the exterior light next to the door. This was done relatively easy. (keep in mind there will be loose wires on the inside of the cabinet that should be secured after installation) |

This installation became prudent at the point I made the decision to install a digital volt meter. It's various uses, noted above, only support my decision to make this a necessary mod.I picked up the receptacle at "Radio Shack" for ~$6.00. The wire and connectors I already had on hand. |
