My goals have been to ensure that our schools are safe, our teachers are valued, and our students reach their highest potential.
I am campaigning for a seat on the City Council now because I have the ability to effectively respond to the risks and the opportunities facing our City. When I was growing up in Alameda in the 1980s, the City became stronger and more diverse with the responsible development of Harbor Bay Isle. We are facing an opportunity to improve Alameda by developing the property at Alameda Point, and I believe that we can do so only with full attention to the potential risks. Development at Alameda Point must address the cleanup of toxic waste and the lack of transportation options, and must not place financial burdens on Alameda residents.
I also have the experience to ensure that Alameda's city government is responsive, transparent and effective. Over many years as a manager of local, state and federal government programs I have learned the value of sharing information, of having the data to defend decisions, and of ensuring that the public has the information necessary to advocate for issues that impact their lives.
My accomplishments as an elected leader in Alameda, and my commitment to education, the environment, equitable opportunities for families, and sustainable business, ensure that I will move Alameda forward. And because I grew up here, and I am raising my son here, I will do so with attention and respect for Alameda’s unique character.
