Intermediate 2 Writing
My Passion
by Kate C.
I'm passionate about writing, because it teaches me that no one is perfect. That there is always room to improve.
My eyes light up with excitement, like they do whenever you ask someone about what they're really passionate about; when someone asks me what my current project is. Right now it is a story about an orphan girl named Generva, who goes to live in a submarine. The submarine is a fun, extremely fun, orphanage. She loves this new world, but when her only friend has to leave, she must use all her brain-power to get a new one.
I love to write, but if I am being hurried, or told what I am writing is wrong, writing is not fun anymore.
Writing can also help me. If I want a break, writing for five minutes is a great way to spend it.
Writing also can change the way I look at things. Writing from Generva's point of view has changed the way I looked at "the new kid."
Writing is my way of expressing myself. Like the quote by Jack Prelutsky, "Everyone needs a way to express themselves; mine is poetry."
I think the reason I chose to write about a girl who is new to the submarine is I could relate to it. I was the new kid and had only one friend, Beanie. Luckily, she didn't have to leave.
To me, wriring is like a journal. I will never forget the day I came up with each one of my stories. Generva's story came about last year in World Cultures. Lizzie raised her hand. "Wouldn't it be cool is we had a submarine that could take us anywhere," she asked.
These are some of the reasons I love to write.
My Passion
by Sam T.
I am passionate about football. It is an amazing sport that requires pushing yourself and persevering! Football teaches you respect. I relish the feeling of making a tackle in a game; it gets me fired up for another one. Plus, I get cheers from all of my teammates! Other than all the running, my hard work in football is well worth it!
I enjoy football a lot! We crab block, run block, and pass block. I practice two hours every Tuesday and Thursday. Our coaches are encouraging and supporting. I play football with Zane and Logan. Zane and I help each other a lot. I block, he runs. Logan literally watches my back. He plays the position behind me. I think everyone should play football because it's full of life lessons and it teaches you how to work together!
