Use it or lose it? This is something we have also reported.

The moral of the story is the more you use your brain on a daily basis the more you are building up a buffer against Alzheimer's Disease. So excercise your brain daily with cognitively stimulating activities.

Head over to the discussion board my main page to read the current discussion on the BCS system and stregnth of schedule.

I finally had another winning week with my picks last week
Results- NCAA: 36-32, NFL: 17-17-3
Don't believe those people that say the systems don't work early in the year, that is when they are best for beating the spread. For the first 6 weeks I was 15-9, since then I am 21-23

I spent some time this weekend setting things up to start tracking NCAA I-AA predictions. I am just going to add systems as I find the time. The most time consuming part of the work is setting up a spelling file to combine all the different spellings so that I can merge all the systems together. Some teams seem to be spelled differently by just about every rater.

I am rating only 121 teams, not 123, because the NCAA only lists those 121 teams in the I-AA statistics.

I was able to get 10 systems saved and scored for last week's predictions. I also saved the scores from the week before last, so the retro numbers will start from the week before last.

My college picks are a 4-4 machine.
Results-- NCAA 31-28, NFL 14-14-3, Combined 46-42-3

My college ratings held up well again this week. I mentioned last week how I still had Miami ranked lower than most. They lost again so all the other systems have no dropped them down to where I already had them. (except now I dropped them even further). I also had Virginia Tech ranked low and they came through with a loss.
Now team that is ranked near the top that I have lower is Ohio State. Their average ranking is 4th and I have them 10. The team that I rank higher than everyone else is Nebraska at #5.

I was surprised to see that in my ratings that Texas jumped up 10 spots, all the way up to #4. I was then surprised again to see that they had a similar jump in most of the ratings. It is very interesting that they had such a universal jump up the charts.

If, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee all win out for the remainder of the season then there will be a 3 way tie for first in the SEC East. And it would even go down to the 7th tie breaker which would be to have the SEC Athletic Directors vote on the champion. Evidently there is no 8th tie breaker if the vote came out a tie.

In week 10 I had my first loosing week of picks in the ncaa, going 0-3.
But now that the college picks have gone cold the NFL picks have caught fire.
Results- NCAA: 27-24, NFL- 14-12-2, Combined 41-36-2

My NCAA PerformanZ Ratings held up very well at the top compared to all the other rating systems. My top 4 remains unchanged from last week. The polls now match what I already had as of last week with OU 1st, UCS 2nd, FSU 3rd, and LSU 4th. I have consistantly had Miami ranked lower than everyone else. I have them all the way down at 10th this week. But they are in almost a virtual tie with Iowa and Michigan at 8 and 9. Another team that my system gives no respect to is Ohio St. Their average ranking is 6th but I have them as 13th. I am betting that in the next few weeks they will pick up a couple of losses.
The two teams that my system seems to favor right now is Nebraska and Purdue, having them rating higher than most other systems. And of course Miami Ohio, most systems have them some where around #10 but they are not even ranked in either of the polls. They have a big matchup with Bowling Green this week.
