I was disappointed how both playoff games turned out. neither one was competive.
My NFL picks drop to 28-17. New England is going to be about a touchdown favorite in the Superbowl.
We ended up getting about a foot of snow between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

I have one NFL pick this week, Pittsburgh +3. This should be a interesting game.
Definitely don't pay any attention to my college basketball picks, they have been horendous.
The forcast is for 6-12 inches of snow by tomorrow, so it will be a good weekend for football watching.

Here is a link to story on how a daily drink of beer or wine improves thinking in elderly women. The article comes with an editorial by my boss cautioning that the findings are not conclusive. I am a little surprised to hear my boss say that because I am working on a study that is almost identicle to this. Maybe we are going to give more conclusive results.

Today I looked over two abstracts for which I will be a lowly coauther on.
"Incorporating Multiple Observations into Logistic Regression Models of Incident Disease" and "Neighborhood Environment and Physical Health Among Older Adults".

I have made a major update to the list of references (articles in the statistical literature that related to football ratings) on my website.
This week is going to seperate the men from the boys of nfl ratings. Up to this point, in the playoffs almost every systems has picked the home team in every game. This week the New England/Pittsburgh game is close to an even split.
My NFL picks have been average for the last several weeks. 1-1 for last week, 28-16 for the season.
The last four days have been extremely cold here in Chicago. How cold is it? I saw something on the news yesterday where the water froze while fire fighters were trying to put out a fire.

I actually have picks on two of the four playoff games this week.
St. Louis +7 and New England -1.5.
I am a surprised to see New England favored so heavily by the computers. I was thinking the Colts were the team to beat this year.

I am not going to make any official NFL picks this week. Denver +10 almost makes the cut and NY Jets +7 would be the next best. But neither game meets the criteria I have been using.

USC was clearly the #1 team last night and deserves the national championship. I had them rated #1 in my PerfcrmanZ ratings in the preseason all the way to the end. They will be the PerformanZ national champions for the 3rd year in a row.
My picks went 3-1 in the bowls to finish out a winning season
Results to date, Final NCAA 35-30, NFL 27-15
We are currently getting our first accumulating snow. I had to shovel the sidewalk this morning for the first time this winter.
