I'm will be going to China in a couple of weeks and I wanted to try adding some pictures. This was from a few years ago. I had to climb half way up the side of the Grand Canyon wall to get this view.

Extremely mixed results for last week. 0-4-1 in NCAA while 3-0 in NFL. I believe the early picks were 1-6-1.
Season totals: NCAA 5-6-1, NFL 4-1

Here are the early (I'll call them leanings rather than) picks for this week, like last week, they don't look too good. Washington +21 and Army -6. Army over Temple looks ok but I don't now about Washington covering against USC.

Over in the NFL there are currently no leanings.

Here are the final picks for this week. A few games did drop off the list from the early picks and no new picks were added. And a couple of the lines changed.

NCAA: Texas A&M +3, Miami Ohio +14, Oregon St. +12, Tulsa +22, Indiana +3
NFL: Green Bay +4.5, Cleveland +3, Tennessee +4.5

Here are the early week picks I mentioned yesterday. I am interested in seeing if the line will change by the end of the week and if so is it better to make picks early. The difference is that I don't have as many ratings systems being available early in the week.
Oregon St. +12, Texas A&M +3, Miami Ohio +13.5, Georgia Tech -3, Minnesota +14, Akron +3.5, Tulsa +22, Indiana +3.

Although there weren't many picks for this past week, none of them were losers.
Season Record -- NCAA: 5-2, NFL 1-1

I am considering trying something new, posting some early week picks. Just to see how they compare against the picks I post late in the week.

Something interesting happened in week 1 of the NFL. Sonny Moore starts his NFL ratings with all teams equal. So his picks for week 1 were the home team by 2.25 points in all games. It turned out that the home teams won by an average of 2.25 points, thus more had a bias of 0 for the week.

In the past I have never known what to do with my NFL PerformanZ ratings early in the season. I think last year I used the final ratings from the year before for the first 3 weeks of the season. This year I decided to only do that for week 1 and just let them be what they were for week 2. And they did very well, 11-4 picking winners and 12-2 against the spread yesterday. I noticed that the systems that weren't heavy tied to past seasons all did well yesterday while the others did fairly bad.

I've made a lot of progress towards getting things as automated as possible. I may try to have the NCAA page fully automated by the end of this week or starting next week.

And another positive note. The new domain has handled the amount of traffic with no problems. So hopefully the days of using up all my alloted bandwidth are over.

This season is unlike any I have ever seen before. The lines and the computers are more similar than ever before. Last week that resulting in no college picks and 1 NFL pick. This week isn't much better with only one college game and 2 NFL picks. In previous seasons there has generally been about 8 NCAA picks per week, or even more in the early season.

Record for the NCAA picks is 4-2. This week the only pick is Cincinnati -7.
Record for the NFL picks is 0-1. This week we have Kansas City +12 and Minnesota +3.

These early season lines are closer to the computer lines than ever. Only one NFL game for week 1. Baltimore +3.

This is rather unusual, especially for early in the season, but there are no NCAA picks this week.
No games match the criteria.
The picks were 4-2 in week 1.
