If you are real quiet—You can hear it RUST!

Safety Fast!

I Call Her Molly         Visitors

On July 4th, 2007, I had my Mid-Life crisis.  However, unlike most, my crisis was fairly cheap.  My 11 year old and I were driving down a county road when he pointed and said “Dad! Look at that cool car!”

As we got closer I could make out that the car was a chrome bumper MGB.  I told him that in my younger days I had owned two other MG’s and a Triumph.  All were lots of fun to drive and required lots of work to keep on the road.

I said that we could look at the car if he wanted.  Well—it was a 1971 MGB and boy did it need work.  However, it drove — not well — and it stopped poorly. It had a leak in the radiator, etc, etc, etc.  But—It was also cheap.

Thanks to an understanding wife—A deal was done and my son and I drove it home.

Now the fun starts.  I am not going to restore the car.  I am going to reclaim it from the junk yard.  It will be safe to drive and look OK from 30 feet away.  (But don’t get any closer.)

This is my third MG.  At points in the past I also had a 1965 MGB (Betty) and a 1972 MGB/GT (Bridget).  I also had a 1980 Triumph Spitfire (Tess).  A high school buddy and I just got in the habit of naming my English cars.  This MGB is Molly.

I will add pages, pictures and comments as we go!
