Session Woods WMA is located on Rt. 69 about four miles south of Rt. 4 and three miles North of Rt. 6 in Burlington, CT. It is actually a 455 acre outdoor laboratory and classroom. You can obtain trail maps and other literature at the Education Center. Hiking, showshoeing, cross-country skiing, and bicycling are encouraged. Pets must be on a leash at all times. Horses and motorized vehicles are prohibited.
The recommended loop takes you to the Beaver Pond, Waterfowl Blinds, Lookout Tower, Waterfall, and the Tree I.D. Trail. It is about three miles. There are numerous explanatory teaching stations along the way. If you stop to read them all the loop will take approximately two hours. The trails are wide, level and well maintained. The terrain is mostly level with some gentle climbs and descents. Wooden stairs lead down to the waterfall. Benches are strategically placed at the top of many climbs.
