2005 Humorous Speech and Table Topics Speech Contests

The West Hartford Toastmasters Club held the their "Club level" Humorous Speech and Table Topics Speech Contests September 6th. Roger Brown, DTM presided as Contestmaster Dane Silcox was the Chief Judge.

WHTM hosted the Area B4 Speech Contests on Thursday, September 28. Cyndy Weaver was the 1st Place Winner in the Humorous Speech Contest and will represent Area B4 in the Division B Contests on October 11. Michael Aron was the 2nd Place winner in the Table Topics contest.

Cyndy gave her best performance of the true calling of the Mocking Bird and her petition to rename the Mocking Bird as the Memory Bird at the Division contest, but did not place.

2005 International Speech and Tall Tales Speech Contests

The West Hartford Toastmasters Club held the their "Club level" International Speech and Tall Tales Speech Contests during the month of February. Raj Lalla, CTM presided as Contestmaster at the International Speech Contest held on February 1st and Roger Brown, DTM was the Contestmaster for the Tall Tales Speech Contest held on February 15th. Dave Louden was the Chief Judge for both events.

2004 - 2005 Distinguished Club Plan Results - Select Distinguished

The West Hartford Toastmasters Club finished the 2004-2005 Distinguished Club Plan Year as a Select Distinguished Toastmasters Club; completing 7 out of 10 goals ( two CTMs, one CLs, one ATM, 8+ new members, club officer training, per capita payments & club officer list submitted on time.) as set forth by Toastmasters International. The West Hartford Toastmasters will receive a red ribbon for the club banner from TI WHQ and be recognized as a Select Distinguished Club.

Congratulations are extended to Jerry Bloom and Alex Daigle for earning their Competent Toastmaster Award (CTM). The CTM recognizes the completion of 10 speech projects in the Basic Communications and Leadership manual. In addition, Dave Louden, CTM received his Competent Leader Award.

Congratulations are extended to William Sullivan, ATM for earning his Advanced Toastmaster Award (ATM). The ATM recognizes the completion of 10 speech projects in two Advanced Communications and Leadership manuals.
