Welcome
Anderson County Volunteer Fire Department – The Andersonville Unit was formed in November 1977 to provide fire prevention and protection to the Andersonville, Tennessee area. Anderson County Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit corporation and is operated entirely by volunteers. We receive a small annual funding from Anderson County government and depend on fundraisers for the remainder of our operating costs. In our years of operation, we have grown from a service area of six square miles to a service area of approximately sixty-five square miles. Our fleet of equipment has grown from one fire engine to two engines, two tankers, a rescue truck and a first responder vehicle housed in two stations in the past. We no longer have the rescue trucker or the first resonder vehicle.
In addition to fire prevention and protection, we provide first response on emergency medical calls and are trained in extrication and respond on motor vehicle accidents. We also provide annual public fire education to two elementary schools located within our service area.
