Owned and operated by Anna Roberts, a native of Chattanooga, Anna is following her life long dream of combining her degree in Construction Management from Auburn University with her love of restoration, remodeling and preserving some of nature’s most extraordinary pieces of workmanship.

Anna can enlighten any patron’s imagination. She can explain how to fix your old door lock while also having the repair parts available; determine the square footage of flooring required for your new or restoration project while having the many different desired woods available; to endless ways of using architectural pieces in your remodel or new construction.  Her best advice is to bring a camera, your measurements and plan ahead when using architectural antiques due to sometimes having odd sizing or requiring special installation, and to coordinate with your contractor in advance for these special allowances.

Anna brings years of experience to Architectural Exchange.  After her college graduation, Anna worked for twelve years in the construction industry with local Stein Construction Company as an estimator.  She also taught part-time for a number of years at Chattanooga State Technical Community College in their Civil Engineering department.  With such an extensive foundation in construction, demolition, salvage, restoration, and her life-long knowledge of the local area and its remarkable history, Anna decided in 1998 to focus on her true interests of preserving history and offering its architectural treasures to the public by founding Architectural Exchange.  She has also been able to grow the business from its start in a 6,000 square foot building to its expansive present location.

Some of the treasures you will find come from local demolition projects.  Others have come from construction companies, remodeled historic homes and treasure hunting trips.  Irregardless of what you are searching for, a visit to Architectural Exchange will bring countless discoveries, memories and numerous opportunities to take away and recycle a unique piece of history.
