India's Love

My name is India and I am the quiet diva of the house.  Dad picked me out of a private litter when mom was about to give up on Harley.  Don't get me wrong, mom would never really give up on any of us, she was just a little disappointed over the fact that Harley liked to be left alone.  Anyway, dad picked me out because I was all ears and paws (double on the front) and before we even reached our house, I had climbed up behind mom's neck and was wrapped around her like a mink stole.  I just decided I liked her and that I could stay with her forever.

In the next three days Harley made my life pretty hard.  She spit, clawed and generally told me that I was an unwelcome addition to "Her" house.  Mom looked up one night not too long after and saw two tails hanging down from the windowsill.  She could see Harley's white fur, but I blended into the night.  She knew we would be OK after that.  I just kept jumping on her head until she loved me (ya, right...).  I taught Harley the fine art of making a human love you. Always be there for them, be quiet and soft, listen to them rant, lay on them when they are crying and purr ALOT.  Oh, most important, let them think they run the house.

This is the actual shot of that night...

Like Harley, I was unnamed for days.  Mom didn't want the usual witchy names and wanted something different that highlighted my color.  After a few days of getting real bad suggestions from friends (sorry), mom asked dad what the old fashioned black ink  was, hence the name India.  I think mom is pretty good at this name thing.
I don't like my beauty sleep to be disturbed...  Shhhhhhhhhh

Some of the names that mom has called me...
Beauty
Peanut
Lucky
Baby Girl

Are there any treats in here?

I must say, my life before "the boys" moved in was much different than it is now.  Though Harley and I still hang out in our room in the basement or upstairs in our fuzzy cat hammocks, I just can't seem to bond with those other creatures.  Mom keeps insisting that the fuzzy gray one is a cat like us, but he just seems so dog-like.  And then there are Duncan and Duffy, who love to chase and bark and generally disturb me to no end.  I just love the days that they go to daycare and truly wish that someday they would STAY!!!!  On those days I come out and play in the kitchen with Harley, stretch at the kitchen window and sleep in the living room hammock.  If mom or dad are home for the day, we spend hours on the couch snuggling.  I even have been known to share a hammock with Mac.  Sometimes at night I will join mom and dad in bed if the boys are sleeping.  I try to be very, very quiet, but I can't help purring and doing the "happy dance of joy" when I'm around them.  I still love this house and my life here, but I long for the days when there were just girls.
