Yosemite High Water
White Water stereo photos - small crossed views from Realist slides

Vernal Falls 1/150
This exposure was set two stops below a reading taken off the whitewater.  The background is a forest in shadow,  well out of range.

Photographer courts death near slimy granite at the top of Nevada Falls.  This exposure is good for the daylight scene but
the water is overexposed, but this is how it really looks - white!

While looking down into 625 feet of falling white water there is a sound like rolling thunder.  This is properly exposed for the
plume of water and the background is a bit dark.  This is simply metered off the subject.

Upper Yosemite Falls could have used a 1/2 stop less on this one.  Notice how the detail is lost in the upper water.  The shade
can be three stops below the full sun on the right.  The HP film scanner had a problem with shadow detail so I avoided dark slides.

Observation:  the dynamic range of the potential subjects can exceed the range of the film so composition often needs to be adjusted.
