Sh3 Speech Version 1.01 Readme and Installation Instructions NOTE: This assumes you already have Microsoft's Speech Recognizer API (SAPI 5.1) installed and functioning correctly. If you don't - STOP NOW and go read the readme.html file for SHSpeech! This mod is compatible with: "Stock" Silent Hunter III with patch 1.4b GWX 2.0 and later (with or without SH3 Commander) GWX 2 or later with OLC GUI 1.2.3 or later installed via JSGME (with or without SH3 Commander) If you have Silent Hunter IV, I've also included a copy of the latest SH4Speech files from minsc_tdp (Erik Knepfler) as of 3/3/08. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have already installed SH3Speech Version 1.00: 1) Using JSGME, UNINSTALL SH3Speech_GWX or SH3Speech_OLC from your SH3 game 2) If you changed any of the SH3Speech .csv or .bat files, make a copy of those you changed and save them in a convenient folder outside of your main SH3 folder. 3) Doubleclick on the SH3Speech_V101.exe file. Follow the prompts. When asked, provide your main SH3 Directory (this is where your V1.00 SH3Speech was installed). The installer will overwrite your old SH3Speech files. This is OK. 4) When the installation is complete, start JSGME and install your version of SH3Speech (SH3Speech_GWX for GWX or "Stock" Sh3 users, SH3Speech_OLC for GWX+OLC users). 5) If you are running SH3 in a resolution other than 1024x768, either restore your old SH3Speech .bat file from its saved location to SH3\SH3Speech folder or edit the .bat file for your version of SH3 (GWX/Stock or OLC) in your SH3\SH3Speech folder, replacing 1024x768 with your screen resolution (for example, 1280x960) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installing SH3 Speech for New SH3Speech Users - 3 Easy Steps... 1) Double click on the SH3Speech_V101.exe file to start the installer. Follow the prompts. Provide the location of your MAIN SH3 Folder when asked. This installer will put the SH3Speech folder in your main SH3 folder, and will place two folders in your SH3\MODS folder, and place two shortcuts on your desktop. You'll find all the SH3Speech documentation in your SH3\SH3Speech\docs folder. 2) If you are using "Stock" SH3 with patch 1.4b or GWX 2.0: a) GWX 2.0 Users should Uninstall "Integrated Orders" mod using JSGME b) Install SH3Speech_GWX using JSGME 2a) If you are using OLC GUI with your GWX 2.0 installation: a) Ensure OLC GUI has been installed already via JSGME b) After OLC GUI is intalled, install SH3Speech_OLC using JSGME (You will get a note saying SH3Speech will interfere with OLC GUI's commands_en.cfg and commands_de.cfg files - it's OK - it's supposed to do that - tell it OK) 3) IF you are running SH3 at a resolution of 1024x768, SKIP THIS STEP. Otherwise: a) Browse to the SH3Speech Folder (it's inside your main SH3 folder) b) RIGHT click on the .bat file for the type of SH3 game you play: SH3SPeech_GWX2.bat or SH3Speech_GWX2 (left-handed).bat SH3Speech_OLC.bat or SH3Speech_OLC (left-handed).bat and from the drop down menu, select EDIT to open the file in Notepad. c) Change 1024x768 to your SH3 game resolution (for example, change 1024x768 to 1280x960 - NO spaces!) d) Select File\Save from the menu at the top of Notepad and then close Notepad. You're done installing SH3Speech! Read the SHSPeech Readme.htm file in your SH3\SH3Speech\docs folder. Read the SH3Speech Innenkommunikatzionen Handbuch.pdf in the \docs folder. Read the SH3Speech FAQ.pdf file inthe \docs folder No, I really mean it - go read these! Running SH3Speech 1) Start up SH3Speech for the version you will be using by double clicking on the appropriate desktop shortcut (SH3Speech_GWX2.bat or SH3Speech_OLC.bat or the left-handed versions of these files - sorry you'll have to create your own desktop shortcut for the left handed versions) 2) Start up SH3 (using SH3 Commander if you use that) and go play. In version 1.01, you NO LONGER HAVE TO SET UP or RESET TUBES. GWX/Stock users must still "reset dials" at the start of each scenario. OLC GUI users only: If you are using OLC GUI and you ever want to uninstall it, PLEASE uninstall SH3SPeech_OLC FIRST using JSGME, THEN uninstall OLC GUI. Changes in version 1.01: 1) Fixed the problem with losing tube synchonicity by removing the interaction between SH3Speech orders and SHSpeech voice.pl code. Tube commands are all now done by mouse or keypress. This was done because of an inherent SH3 "feature" whereby if you are selected to a torpedo tube which is open, and you select any other tube by mouse or keypress if you are in the UZO or periscope screen, or select any other tube by keypress in theTDC screen, the open tube will be shut - even though you didn't ask for it to be shut. The workaround is: 1) Go to TDC screen and order each tube opened via SH3Speech commands. They'll stay open as long as you don't select another tube in a screen outside TDC. OR 2) Go to Conning Tower Periscope view and look down - you'll see white toggle switches - these will open/close the tube doors from 1 at top to 6 at bottom. Flip the switches to open the doors you want. They'll stay open as long as you don't select another tube in a screen outside TDC. 2) Added/corrected a number of German orders (thanks, Jaeger!) for more realism. See IKH for details. 3) Added six new orders for manning: a) Man battlestations torpedo b) Man battlestations torpedo (surfaced) c) Man battlestations guns d) Station the normal submerged watch e) Station the normal surface watch f) Station Damage Control Repair Team When ordered (see IKH pgs 13 and 14 for recognized orders), they will open the Crew screen and click on the appropriate button for the condition called for in your order. 4) Added commands_de.cfg to the \MODS\SH3Speech_GWX and SH3Speech_OLC folders (based on commands_de.cfg from GWX and from OLC respectively - the files are NOT the same) so our German friends won't have to switch their game to English language. The keystrokes are identical between english and german commands_XX.cfg files so the operation of SH3Speech should be identical as well. Thanks to Jaeger for recommending this fix. 5) Renamed the SH4 readme materials in the SH3Speech\docs folder for easier recognition 6) Updated SH3Speech FAQ and IKH. 7) Files affected in this version: SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_GWX\dials.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_GWX\key_codes.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_GWX\key_commands.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_GWX\tubes.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_GWX\voice_commands.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_OLC\dials.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_OLC\key_codes.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_OLC\key_commands.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_OLC\tubes.csv SH3Speech\csv files\SH3_OLC\voice_commands.csv SH3Speech\docs\SH4ChangeLog.htm (renamed) SH3Speech\docs\SH4ReadMe.htm (renamed) SH3Speech\docs\SH4Reference_Card.htm (renamed) SH3Speech\docs\SH3_Innenkommunikatzionen Handbuch_V101.pdf SH3Speech\docs\SH3Speech FAQ_V101.pdf SH3Speech\docs\SH3Speech V101 Installation Readme.txt (this file) SH3Speech\docs\SH3Speech Changelog.txt (new file) We hope you enjoy SHSpeech for SH 4 and SH3 For questions or comments regarding SH3 speech conversion of SH3Speech, please contact: Tomcattwo: Colt_Coltrain@comcast.net or PM me at Tomcattwo on SUBSIM.com
