Tom Kleinschmidt's Old Time Radio Collection
tomkle@comcast.net

After almost 30 years of collecting OTR and due to space limitations I am trying to sell my OTR tape collection. This includes approximately 2,000 - 7" reel to reel tapes, approximately 100 - 10 1/2" reel to reel tapes, and approximately 1,300 cassette tapes. You would have to pick up the collection in person with a van or small truck. I live just outside of Trenton, New Jersey so it could be a good opportunity for someone who lives close by. I will also include one reel to reel tape deck and one cassette deck.

A few notes, shows with a notation of "R 1182" for example notes it is on a 7" reel, a notation of "10 - 32" notes that it is on a 10 1/2" reel. A number by itself "789" would indicate a cassette tape. Some have multiple numbers listed by the titles, simply indicating a duplicate copy. Some items are listed as CD, these are NOT included as I plan to keep the audio CD's, but copies of some of these can be negotiated.

Most of the reels were recorded 1/4 track at 3 3/4 IPS, although I do have some 1/2 track 7 1/2 IPS,
most are 1/4 track.
Note that the lists on the files linked below are not 100% complete, I probably
have 50-100 reels that I have never catalogued and a similar number of cassettes. Also a few of the reels
seem to be missing, probably just misplaced during my move, but I will warn that only about 95% of the reels listed may actually be included. Also I had about 3 dozen reels converted to CD for me in exchange for the reels,
these were mostly Fred Allen shows, and a handful of others.

As mentioned above, I CANNOT ship these tapes, it's over 100 boxes and would easily cost hundreds of dollars and be very time consuming to pack, the collection would have to be picked up.

The price I am asking is $8,000.00 firm. I will only sell the collection as a whole.

The reel to reel tape deck I am including is a Sony TC-758 and was in good working
condition the last time I used it, which was almost 3 years ago now. The cassette deck is a Sony dubbing deck.

Most of the recordings were purchased from big name dealers back in the reel days of the late 1970's
and early 1980's, people like Pat McCoy, Larry Kiner, Ed Carr, Jerry Heandages, and others. Some were traded
and some were copies made from the lending libraries of clubs such as SPERDVAC, NARA, and RHAC. A Handful of the reels were off air recordings from rebroadcasts on shows like Max Schmid's WBAI show and others, but those are a pretty small number.

I'll be the first to agree if you want a large quantity of shows for little money you can probably
find MP3's all over the internet. Quality is very hit and miss though and ranges from good to absolutely
horrible, while quality ranges in my own collection, most shows are quite good. If you are interested in purchasing the collection, please email me.
