Varney Point, Gilford NH
This rental
property is located in Varney Point, Gilford, a prestigious,
upscale lakeshore locale with many million dollar homes. The
property enjoys deeded lake access via 3 right-of-ways on
Varney Point -- the closest within a couple of hundred
yards. These right-of-ways can be used for swimming,
sunning, picnics
and
day docking.
Gilford, which
is adjacent to Laconia and Weirs Beach, is by far the most
central, amenities-rich and 'cosmopolitan' town on the Lake.
Though a quaint NE town with white churches and lots of
greenery, Gilford also has a Wal-Mart, a 8-screen cinema
complex, 2 large supermarkets [i.e. Hannaford and Shaw's], a
huge beach, numerous restaurants, many marinas and lots of
specialty shops.
Gilford is
where people from the other towns come to shop and have fun
-- year round!
Varney Point,
though only 2 miles away from the Wal-Mart and Hanaford, and
even closer to the Cinema complex, is tucked away on a
dead-end road. So there is no through traffic.
It is a tranquil setting with lots of birds and wildlife.
You will also enjoy the most spectacular of sunsets. |

Lake Winnipesaukee
With
a surface area of 72 square miles, 25 miles in length
between Alton and Center Harbor, 15 miles wide at the
'Broads' and with a 178 mile
shoreline it
is reputed to be the largest, natural, fresh-water lake
entirely within the borders of the United States (the
key here being all those caveats).
It also has
365 islands (one for each day of the year), with the
largest, Bear Island, has over 200 houses and 3 well known
Summer camps.
It
is without doubt one of the best known in NE -- and to boot,
has the honor of having the oldest Summer resort in the U.S.
[i.e. Wolfeboro].
It is a fun,
year round lake with enchanting scenery and lots of waters
edge restaurants, bars and hotels. In the Summer it is
plenty warm enough to swim and ski on, and in the winter in
freezes solid -- to enabling pilots the unique opportunity
of using Alton's airport on ice! It is noted for its
fishing and there are fishing derbies, with large prizes, on
a regular basis, irrespective of the season.
