Did Management Deny You a Day Off?
A Tour 2 manager said she was going to start denying mail handlers annual leave because there are a lot of call outs.
Now, isn’t this a new atrocity?
The Local Memorandum of Understanding says the Mail Handler craft will be permitted the following percentages of annual leave during the choice vacation period by tour.
First full week of April through the Friday prior to Memorial Day, 8%
Saturday before Memorial Day through the last full week of October, 13%
First week of November through last full week of November, 8%
Not only is management attempting to alter the LMOU, but it’s also punishing everyone for what a few may have done. When this was brought to Judy Herrick’s attention she said she would honor the LMOU. But keep in mind that Herrick has often admitted she’s the last to know about what happens here.
Therefore, the seed of doubt has been planted. One has to wonder, how can we ever trust that management is granting annual leave to the appropriate number of mail handlers?
The answer is we can’t.
That’s why we want to hear if you’re being denied annual leave because management says the book is full. We want to check to make sure it is full and that management is not denying us what is rightfully ours. If you’re denied annual leave, tell your steward and ask that he or she check the book for you.
