Local 308 Announces Membership Drive
You Can Win a Trip to Hawaii
Local 308 of the mail-handlers union will conduct a membership drive from January 2-February 28, 2009. It also will be awarding a grand-prize trip to Hawaii.
Those eligible to win must sign up at least three new members. The mail handler who signs up the most new members from each facility wins $100 and will be entered in the random drawing for the trip to Hawaii.
The grand prize includes airfare and hotel accommodations. The mail handler will accompany Local 308 President John Macey to the Semi-Annual Meeting of the Local Unions (SAMLU) on the island of Oahu. The meeting is scheduled for April 20-22. But the winner will stay a full week and will depart Hawaii on April 26. (The winner may take along a guest at the winner's expense.)
The prize also includes a tour of the island, including Pearl Harbor, Honolulu and Diamond Head. Accommodations are at the Hilton Hawaii Village on Waikiki Beach.
During the membership drive, the union will pay a $25 bonus to anyone who signs up a new member. Typically, the sign up bonus is $10.
Each branch president has received a supply of sign up forms and a palm-tree thermometer to chart the branches progress during the campaign.
