PDI = A Day-in-Court
Some crafty managers have recently told mail handlers that they want to have a PDI with them. And some unsuspecting and trusting mail handlers have gone behind closed doors with a manager only to find that a PDI is what traditionally has been referred to as a day-in-court.
Management is now using the term PDI, which stands for pre-discipline interview, instead of day-in-court.
You have the right to union representation if you believe that any meeting with management could lead to you being disciplined. If you request a union steward - and you should - management must comply or end the meeting with you.
So, tip the scales in your favor. Remember that a PDI is the same as a day-in-court and that you should request to have a union steward present.
