The Question Everyone's Been Asking
John Macey, president of Local 308, and Tony Branco, branch president of South Jersey, are going to meet with Ike Morris, manager of Labor Relations, on Wednesday, April 23, to talk about the casual-in-lieu-of grievances that Leo Spearman filed when he was branch president. We invited Spearman to join us at the meeting.
You’ll recall that Frank Phillips, the former president of local 308, hammered out a global settlement deal on Dec. 6 that would have netted all mail handlers about $1,800. Then the Postal Service called off the settlement but said it would reexamine the grievances at a later time. Since I took office, people have been asking me for news of that settlement. Of course I will keep you informed as soon as I learn anything new.
Luckily, the all-members union meeting will be held on Friday, April 25 – and that’s an excellent time for all of us to discuss the grievances and any settlement. The union meeting will be held at the Adelphia Restaurant in Deptford at noon. A buffet luncheon will be served. There will be a cash bar.
