Scabs at the Potluck Dinner

Imagine this.

All mail handlers are invited to a potluck dinner and all are asked to bring a dish or two for the event. All union members bring delicious food to this event to share. Non-union members are those who bring nothing – and yet are only too willing to eat more than their fair share at the gathering. Worse than that, they bring “to-go bags” to the event and take union-members provided food when they go home.

These non-members have no shame about attending this event or taking the fruits of their union coworkers.

We’ve all heard their excuses and all it boils down to being selfish and greedy. Not a single one of our non-members would consider NOT taking a negotiated raise or increase in benefits. But not a single one of the non-members is willing to “do the right thing” and carry their own weight by helping to secure and maintain those benefits and wage increases.
