  Another  neat site on the Internet!  Do you ever have trouble calculating a birthdate from a tombstone
inscription? I have and imagine many of you do. Check out this URL by Ben Buckner. He gives you a chart to help calculate also the age of death in the year-month-day format. I am looking for any distant relatives of the Haddix family from Mannington, WV. My Grandmother waws Bertha Leona Haddix and she died in Neffs, Belmont County, OH in 1980. She had many siblings including Clarence, Homer, and Harry Haddix. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows of this family.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of the Edward Parrish (1748-1813) family Bible? It is referred to in "The Parrish Family" by Scott Lee Boyd's on page 79. Edward died in Monongalia county, (W) VA in 1813. Help!

I am looking for any information on a William RileyChannel, who was b. 2 Jun 1867, s/o Lsrael Channel. On William's death certificate, it said Lsrael Channel was from Spencer, Roane Co., WV. William Channel m. Lora Mae Carpenter who was b. 8 Aug 1873, d/o Hez and Rebecca Carpenter. Lora had a sister Mollie (m. ? Harmon) and brother Warren. [editor's note: it is possible that Hez Carpenter was actually a Hezakiah Carpenter. Submitter said the death certificate for Lora Mae Carpenter stated her father was "Hez"].  Appreciate any help at all.

MIDDLETON...............................
I have been unable to determine the parents of my great grandfather   Lovell Harrison Middleton  married Susan Ann Robey, daughter of Elias Robey,  8 Mar 1847  in Fairfax County, VA. The minister was a Rev. Pasco. The marriage register of Arlington Co., VA shows that they applied there for a license, but neither Arlington Co., nor the Richmond state archives are able to produce a copy of the application. Lovell died 13 Dec 1872 in Loudoun Co., VA.   A death certificate provided from Richmond states that his consort (wife) said he was 69 at his death and that he was born in Fauquier Co., VA in 1804.   Lovell does not appear in any records of Fauquier Co.   Researchers in VA....anything you can offer would be appreciated.

I descend from John Parrish (1694-1751) of Goochland County, VA. I am looking for anything on that Jhon (that is the spelling given) Parrish, a William Parrish (1700), a son  Valentine Parrish, a son James Parrish (1825)  who married Catherine Hews. James is the father of my grandfather Wesley Parrish of Alabama. Appreciate any information on these families at all.

CARPENTER     HICKS     BUCKBEE
Looking for information on Thomas Carpenter. The name of his first wife is unknown but he had children: John, Benton, and French (David). He m/2 Christina Hicks Buckbee and she had children - Okey, Ethel and Ocee. This spelling is not positive.  Thomas and Christina had one child together, named Vinton Ray Carpenter. This Carpenter family lived in Webster County, WV. It is believed that Vinton Ray Carpenter was born in 1912 and it is possible that Christina was b.in 1871 but have not proof. Can anyone help me?

I am researching the family of Samuel Carpenter and his wife Clarissa Stewart in Minisink, NY.  She was the d/o Silas Stewart & Margaret Webb, who was d/o Jonathan Webb and Mary Knapp and was 1st cousin of her husband, Silas Stewart. She  m. Samuel ca 1819. He was b.31 Jul 1780  and d.26 Apr 1856. Clarissa d. 26 Mar 1873 and is buried in the Decker Family Burial Ground. They had children: Silas S., Margaret, Sarah, Moses W., Emily and Temperance S. Carpenter. Does anyone have any leads on these offspring.  There is a book "Descendants of John Stewart" by Ronald Lee Stewart, PhD, that is wonderful.

Solomon Sells b.20 Sep 1750 PA, d. 3 Apr 1816 Washington Co.,VA. His 1st marriage produced John Sells, b. ca 1774 Bedford Co.,(now Huntingdon) PA. John m. and had Samuel, William W., John Jr., Margaret, Abraham, Sarah, Anthony Simeon, Jacob and last - Benjamin who was b. Washington Co., VA  on 10 Dec 1811. The 2nd wife of Solomon was a Margaret Ashbaugh. Seeking land records on Solomon who has been proven to have been a Patriot by DAR. I am interested in finding the Hawkins family of Lunenberg Co.,VA. Isham (no date) had a son William Howard Hawkins b. 1818 and d. 1906. William then removed to Franklin/Nash Co. area of NC. I am working on Catherine Sullivan b. 1756, m. Joseph Swope/Swab 3 Apr 1774, and she d. 12 Mar 1820 Wolf Creek, Monroe Co.,(W)VA. She is buried in the Wolf Creek Cemetery there in Monroe Co. She was the dau. of Timothy and named in his will which was proved 15 May 1801 in Greenbrier Co.,(W)VA. Also named in his will was his wife Caty, who is believed to be a Raney. Can anyone help me?

My name is Pamela Testerman, and my maiden name was COLLINS. I am searching for my birth mother. Her name is Judy Dingess, which I believe is her maiden name. She was very young when she gave birth to me and was from Logan, West Virginia. I was born 1 Jan 1962 - or so my Maryland birth certificate says. I was adopted by Z. Franklin Collins and Ruby Lucille Collins. We eventually moved to Tampa, Florida i 1969. If anyone has any information they might be able to give me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Seek parents of William, Silas and Basil Bailey b.between 1786 and 1798 in old Berkely Co., VA, (which is now Morgan Co.,WV) near the Sleepy Creek area. The brothers migrated about 1815 to Champaign (later Hardin) Co., OH, where all three are listed in the 1820, 30 and 40 federal census.

CARPENTER
I am looking for Daniel R. Carpenter and his parentage. He is listed on the 1840, 50, 60 Census of Eaton Co. Many Carpenters are buried in Delton Center Cemetery in Eaton Co, MI. Daniel's gravestone is missing from that cemetery but the records there show he is buried there. Census says he was b.in NY and the 1830 Chautauqu Co in the Harmony census division. His oldest son, Otis, was b. Oakland Co., MI. Otis m. Sally A.and they moved to Oneida Twp, then Delta Twp, where ch. William, Cecil, Daniel & Diana were born. Apprecate any help finding this family.

Bazil Derry was b. Apr 1786 Bedford Co.,PA s/o Mary Derry, b.bef 1775. Family was from Loudoun Co.,VA and finally settled in Georges Twp., Fayette Co.,PA. He was a famous hunter and m. Mary/Polly Shultze in 1812 in PA. Need names of Mary Derry's parents and her husband's name. She was known as "Old Moll, the witch" and also known as "the fortune-teller of the Revolution". She has been written about in several folk-lore stories and reportedly carried a "erdspeigel" (looking glass/crystall ball) from which people sought her advice. Appreciate any help at all.

Jacob Carpenter/Zimmerman was born Switzerland in 1777. He married Margaret Borror and they lived Hardy Co. and then in Barbour Co.,WV.  Did they marry in Switz? I know nothing about them before I find them in Hardy Co. They had a dau. Hannah who m. John/Jehue Weese in 1833.  Jacob and Margaret died within 5 days of each other in Aug 1851 and are bur. in Coon Hill Cemetery in Barbour Co. Does anyone of this know of this family? I am looking for information concerning the family of George Cole and his wife Martha Alice. What was her maiden name? George's father was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. He had two wives and had twenty-two (22) children. One known son was Jerry Cole, who sometimes used the initial of "D". I have a picture of George and Martha. A Boutwell Hawkins appears in the 1846 Nelson Co.,VA Marriage Records to Nancy J. Harding. They are in the 1850 census of Appomatox Co.; 1860-1880 in Albermarle Co.,VA. They had 11 children.
   Nicholas C. Harding m. Elisabeth Carter 1836 Nelson Co.,VA. They were in 1840 census there; 1860-1880 in    Appomattox Co. He m. Angeline Chick ca 1850 and he had 7 children.
       John Boutwell appeared in court records of Fredricktown, VA 1804 in a dispute over a will. Need other        information on the Boutwell's of Virginia.
