Wave and Streets

These are very common instability cloud fields associated with NW flow following a cold frontal passage. Strong surface heating from the Sun and cold air aloft combine to create steep lapse rates.

Wave clouds line up parallel to the ridges in PA. Note the wave train in the lower left corner that teminates near High Rock.

Cloud streets can been seen over SE NY and W MA.

Moisture and instability over central NY is producing scattered showers under larger, brighter towering cumulus clouds.

Cloud Dive

Fog fills the valleys in and around Hyner, PA
