About Us

The modern Company "C" is a unit of the National Civil War Association of California, a not for profit educational organization. Our company participates in Civil War reenactments and school programs. We pride ourselves in educating the public about the green uniforms, skirmish and sharpshooting tactics, and the sharps, colt, and target rifles used by the Berdans. If you are interested in joining us in sharing the experiences of and honoring the memory of the soldiers of Berdan's Sharpshooters, please contact our recruiter or drop by our camp at one of the events posted on the schedule. Just look for the soldiers in green!

Getting Started in Reenacting

You've been to a reenactment and you now want to do neat stuff like talking to visitors about the Civil War and being a Berdan Sharpshooter, live in in a tent for a weekend, drill, eat hardtack, drill, fight in skirmish lines, eat more hardtack, and do other things that made up the life of a civil War era soldier. Where to get started? Your greatest resource is the people you are joining up with. Our company has loaner gear to help get you started and a load of reading material to share.
