Image Resizer for WinXP

Today I came across this article explaining the WinXP plugin, Image Resizer. Many times I have images taken from our digital camera, and I want to quickly resize them to send in an email or post to the web. Our camera is setup to take 1600x1200 pixel images, which are approx 900KB. Using this tool, I can resize down to 640x480 and a mere 50KB with just a quick right click on the picture. Thanks Microsoft, once in a while you do provide good software!

Today I posted an album cover and good review to the "What's Your Flavour?" album for sale at Amazon. In doing so, I enhanced the cover image to show a purple oval with the message "Includes the hit cover song Tainted Love". I found Amazon sells both the old and new pressings, so I wanted to direct customers to buy the better version with the extra song. Anything I can do to pimp this great band :)

Note to fans: I see 2 new 2007 show dates listed on their website. Hopefully I can make it to both concerts to break out of the winter blues.

Federal phone excise tax refund

Look back at past phone bills (Aug06 and earlier), and you should see a line item for "Federal Excise Tax". I see these on my monthly Comcast bills, usually just under $1. It turns out, this tax was put in place in 1898 to fund the Spanish-American War. There is good article by Motley Fool that discusses all the details of this, but needless to say, the tax has been terminated, and now it's time to collect a refund.
