November, 2000 vs. May, 2001
What a difference 6 months can make!
On November 3rd, 2000, we adopted "ARPH 3851 - Peanut" from the East Coast Australian Shepherd Rescue and Placement Helpline, or ARPH. Our little peanut has adjusted wonderfully to her new home, and is getting along great with her new house-buddy, Kip. Peanut tells me to say hi to her foster mom, so "Hi Aunt Kathy!" Peanut and Kip have been playing the days away by wrestling, chasing each other around, engaging in spirited tug o' war contests, and generally doing all sorts of fun things that make us laugh. They have quickly learned to share such items as chewies, toys and beds (although Peanut is somewhat grudging about sharing those chewies).
Peanut gives Kip a run for his money when it comes to wrestling. Peanut has already learned how to work the buster cube, although amusingly enough, she mostly uses her paws to bat the cube around. She didn't learn that from Kip. Both Peanut and Kip had a great time playing in the snowfalls this past winter, and I managed to get some pictures. Peanut is having a great time this summer however. She goes rollerblading with me at the park, and absolutely loves her backyard play tunnel (see picture above). Also, Peanut's skin and coat are gorgeous now. Her outer coat is now soft and thick, and she's got her full undercoat back. Thank goodness!
Here are a few pictures I've managed to snap so far. Click on any picture to see a large version.

Getting both dogs to pose nicely for a group picture isn't easy, and the proof of that is below. On the left, Kip wasn't really paying attention, and Peanut was wiggling around too much. The middle picture showcases how Peanut, the funny perpetual motion machine, looks in most of our shots. (It's a cute picture anyway) At right is an example of how nicely both dogs behave when you've got cookies in your pocket! I'll be updating this page soon with more pictures and info!
