LADIES LEAGUE BI-LAWS

ARTICLE I - NAME

The name of this organization is Chelmsford Country Club Ladies League

 
ARTICLE II - PURPOSE

The purpose of this league shall be to prove opportunities for women to play together, enjoy friendly league competition, as embodied in its honorable and ethical traditions, and build camaraderie.

 
ARTICLE III - MEMBERS

The league will be open to all Women over the age of 18, and must hold a USGA - GHIN handicap card.  If you do not have enough rounds (5/18 hole rounds required), these will be your options:

 1.  Start playing in the league immediately, but will not be eligible to win the tournament(s)

 2.  Join at a later date, pro-rating the greens fees owed in the first 10 weeks.

 

 

ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS, EXECUTIVE BOARD AND THEIR ELECTION

1.     Officers - The Officers of the organization will consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  The officers will be elected by the membership at the Banquet at the close of the season.

2.     Executive Board - The Executive Board shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, By-Laws & Rules, Tournament, Handicap, Social, and Publicity.

3.     Tenure of Office - All elected officers and members of the Board shall serve a term of one year.  All officers and members of the Board shall continue to hold office until their successors are elected or appointed.  An officer cannot be re-elected more than four times in succession.  They may be elected again after a period on one year passes.

4.     Vacancy of an Elected Position - If there is a vacancy of an elected position before the start of the golfing season, the Executive Board shall vote to fill the position.  If it occurs after the beginning of the season, the membership will vote to fill the position.

 

 

ARTICLE V – DUTIES OF OFFICERS

  1. President - The president presides over meetings of the League and of the Executive Board, appoints chairman of standing committees and forms ad hoc committees, calls meetings when necessary.  The president will also have a vote on the Executive Board for a period of two years after she has left office.  During the term of office, the president shall also have access to the checking account along with the treasurer.
  2. Vice President - shall fulfill all the duties of the President in her absence.  She may chair any temporary committees the President may feel is necessary during the year.
  3. Secretary - shall keep records of all meeting of the organization, the proceedings of the Board meetings, and all other matters concerning which a record correspondence pertaining to her office.
  4. Treasurer - shall properly account for all moneys received and disbursed by the Ladies League.  She shall maintain a current membership list of all members of the League and is responsible for collection of yearly dues.  In the event that other fees are voted by the membership then she shall be responsible for the collection of these fees.  The treasurer shall pay all bills.  At the monthly meeting she will give the membership a financial update.
  5. By-Laws & Rules - shall review and decide upon matters pertaining to the By-Laws & Rules of the league.  If at any time the By-Laws require changing, this committee and the Executive Board are the only members able to make the changes required.  In the event of a misinterpretation of rules she with the assistance of the club pro, will make the final ruling.  This committee may at anytime appoint as many people to assist, as they deem necessary.
  6. Tournament Chairman - shall arrange and conduct all tournaments of the Ladies League except the Club Championship.  She may appoint as many members to help her as she sees fit.  She will also be in charge of setting up the prizes for the raffles on our monthly meetings.
  7. Handicap committee - shall maintain the handicap of the Ladies League.  She will check weekly for each member GHIN, on the computer provided by the golf course. 
  8. Social Committee - will provide refreshment for all general meetings and for any tournaments that will be scheduled.
  9. Publicity Committee - is responsible for helping in our largest tournament of the season.  The Four-ball Tournament. 

  *All committees may ask for help from the membership anytime they deem necessary.

 

ARTICLE VI – DUES AND FEES                                                                                 The dues shall be determined by the officers and board each year and shall be approved by a majority vote at the first General Meeting of the membership in the spring prior to the beginning of the golfing season.  Such dues shall be payable by the first day of play.  The treasurer will notify any member not paid in full within 30 days.  In the event these dues are not paid within 60 days from the first day of play for the season, the member will be dropped from the membership and any awards won shall be forfeited.

In addition to yearly dues any other fees deemed necessary by the board must be approved by the majority vote of the general membership.  All additional fees approved by the majority of the general membership must be paid within 30 days.  You will also be required to pay for a USGA handicap to the golf course.  This fee is required by the membership.

 

ARTICLE VII - MEETINGS                                            There will be two major meetings held every year.  The first meeting will be held in the spring to kick off the start of the season, and the second will be in the fall (banquet) to end the season.  We will also be holding monthly meetings to take place every first Tuesday of the month, during the golfing months.  If special meetings need to take place, 3 days notice is required.

 

ARTICLE VIII – NOMINATING COMMITTEE                    The nominating committee shall consist of the Officers and the Executive Board.  This committee shall meet prior to the banquet, and nominate officers to be placed on the voting ballot.

 

ARTICLE IX – GOLF RULES                                            The league will follow the rules of the USGA, unless modified by the Rules Committee of this Ladies League.  All 9 hole tournaments will be capped at 25 strokes and all 18 hole tournaments will be capped at 50 strokes.

 

ARTICLE X – AMENDMENTS                                                                                  These By-Laws may be altered, amended or repealed by the Officers and Executive Board at any time.  90% of these committees must be present in order to make any changes.
