Welcome to the T. Randolph Scott Bio Page
In
my late teens I started developing an intense love for songwriting. Soon after I
picked up the acoustic for the first time I started playing around with chord
progressions and humming to them. When I was 18 I got my first multi-track
recorder and started writing and recording tunes immediately. The first 100 or
so really sucked, probably because I had as many crappy musical influences as
good ones.
A
small independent record company that had far more promises than actions signed
me when I was 21. Over time I realized these guys weren’t going to do anything
with my music except hold the publishing on every song that I’d send them. I
chose to stop writing and ride out the contract. I know that I’m no Prince
(formerly the symbol guy) so I had no elaborate plan to write hundreds of tunes
under a pseudonym.
Not long after my contract ran out I fell upon illness. I had stomach problems that I later found were diverticulitis. I know, cry me a river, I’m not looking for sympathy I’m just telling my story. I eventually found myself in a hospital room with my stomach splayed open. They told me that my colon had perforated and essentially was torn apart. Although my plumbing is now completely back in working order, I’ve since had a series of operations over the last few years because of various complications. At the end of 2005 I realized I had to get back on the horse and put together a CD despite my damn problems. It took nearly a year but I did it, and I did it all by myself.
