Scotland 2005
Over 1000 miles of beautiful country in 8 days

Click here for my Scotland Journal.

Our driving route beginning and ending in Edinburgh:

They drive on the LEFT in Scotland!  We ventured on many scenic narrow roads.  This is the B8074 around Oban and Glencoe:

We stayed iin B & B's (Bed and Breakfast)

Our "mind-blowing" sunset:

Blackwaterfoot Lodge, Isle of Arran

Saw many CASTLES and many colorful GARDENS

Edinburgh Castle

Blair Castle

Very comfortable, and ornate, warm room in Blair Castle:

Cawdor Castle (VERY nice inside.  Clem Watson was a great guide.)

Eilean Donan Castle

Jedburgh Abbey

Abbotsford - Sir Water Scott's house

Avenue of Giant Sequoia Redwoods

We saw beautiful flowers everywhere in every town!

Drummond Castle Gardens

Also saw churches. This is St. Conan's Kirk

I rode the funicular to the top of the CairnGorm Mountains.

The Great Glen Way is a long distance path that runs for 73 miles from Fort William to Inverness.  Scotland is indeed one of the best places for hiking, I mean, "trekking"!

Impressive viaduct where steam trains cross in Glennfinnan

There is no Loch Ness monster!  They determined there is not enough food to sustain a monster in the Loch.  Skip the "Original Exhibition," there was a good presentation here:

Definitely set up for tourists.  This is only place where we saw them.

There are only two shepherd's left in Scotland. These dogs were amazing.

The wool from one sheep is only worth 60 cents.

.

A Scottish Highland Cow.

Their long bangs protect the eyes.

Many beautiful hikes and vistas in this country.
