Steve Bross

My thanks go out to Steve for letting me use these pics from his collection!

Steve played bass and guitar with a bunch of great bands back in the day. Starting while in Junior High he progressed through a series of talented groups over the years. He's been a member of club scene favorites such as Nobody Special, Scat, Dash Weaver, Construction/Rivals and the Philly based Chatter Band.

A quick story about the Chatter Band. They used to play at Brothers Saloon when it was a disco back in 1978. I saw them there on what turned out to be there last ever appearance at the club. After a night of playing repetitious disco rhythms to all the Tony Minero and Donna Summer wanna-bes, in the middle of  their final song of the night the band abruptly stops and cranks up the amps into the  full blown frenzy of Led Zepplin's "Whole Lotta Love" (complete with Maestro-Echo Plex sound effects in the middle break of the song)! The disco people were shouting obscenities and making various rude hand gestures at the band, while the under-cover rockers in attendance proudly raised their fists in the air in a show of support and appreciation of the band's brave exploit!

I loved it! A totally cool moment in life indeed!

Live at Grice Junior High in 1975

Steve is the bass player talking to the groupie while his bandmates concentrate on their playing.
He started out as a bassist and later switched to guitar.

Here is Steve in 1973 playing at the Trenton Civic Center. He said it was one of the very first shows he ever played! They were the opening act for
The Cop Shoo Bops.

A bass player friend of mine said he saw Steve play at this dance and was in awe of his playing!

Here is Steve in his first appearance as guitarist with Construction on June 1st 1982.
