The FM Band / Next - 1
The
FM Band
ad (1978)This was a GREAT band they were all very talented and were a lot of fun to see. They were probably Trenton's first real Super-Group! Formed after Steve Mosley came off the road after touring with the David Bromberg Band, and following the completion of Bruce Foster's "After The Show" album. They were joined by Sam Masiello who had just left Wind, Jody Giambelluca who left Valentine and this young guitarist who used to go see Bruce play, Richie Sambora. I love this ad because the person who garnered the most fame in his future couldn't even get his name spelled right! Richie Sambora who later had great success with Bon Jovi gets his name misspelled by the Trentonian, not to be out done, the Trenton Times once put Bruce Foster's name under Richie's picture! |

from top: Steve Mosley, Jody Giambelluca, They started out as The FM Band (Foster-Mosley get it?). Then they changed it to Blackjack. An album came out by another band by that name, so to avoid confusion they changed it to the Next. But, a band called Sue Saad and the Next put out an album. They figured Sue Saad would use up her 15 minutes of fame and be gone, so they kept the name this time. |

Steve Mosley (above) and Richie Sambora (right) at Full Tilt Studios, NYC in Feb.1980. The Next did a showcase session for a dozen or so record company executives. Trenton Times writer Bruce Nixon went along and wrote a feature article about it. I think it was the first gig I did with them as their lighting tech. |
