The Mahoney Brothers

The Mahoney Brothers Band (1978)

l to r: Tim Mahoney, Rick Flodman, Brian Mahoney and Mace Flock

I saw the very first Beatles show these guys did. They played a set of cover songs, then for the 2nd set, with a dark stage, the James Bond intro theme blasted out of the PA and at the end of the song, just like in the movie Help, they kicked into the song Help! They were in black pants and turtlenecks with Beatle mop-top wigs on. From the back of the club, with a few drinks in me, I'll be damned if they didn't look and sound like the real thing !

They were so good at what they were doing, that the producers of Beatlemania signed them up as understudies to the cast that was performing on Broadway. But rumor was that they only did that to keep the Mahoney Brothers show off the road and not cut into their profit.
