Primitive Camping June 9
Opportunity for Primitive Camping, Flint Knapping Demonstration, PVC Pocket Fishing Kit Demonstration, etc.
Where: The new "campground" near Colon (Sherwood) on the St. Joe River.
Sanitary facilities will be "primitive" but there will be sheltered "boys" and "girls" facilities.
Tentative Agenda:
Morning:
Fire by Friction – Bow Drill
Basic Poncho Shelter / Knot Class
Flint Knapping demonstration
Afternoon:
PVC Pocket Fishing Kit Demonstration of bow building and making PVC bows.
Tomahawk/knife throwing available for when we are on break or after dinner.
Costs is to be determined but most likely $20.

Important information: Annual health forms due for every camper adults/scouts by May 8. Adults also need to submit DHS paperwork for a background screen if attending and must complete Youth Protection. More information to follow. Please see Mr. Hare.
Merit Badge Counselor List The updated Troop 161 Merit Badge Counselor list for the 2011-2012 calendar year is available HERE (PDF), at least with everyone that has submitted an application to Mr. Orlando to date.
Scholarships! Boy scouts of America Hall/McElwain Merit Scholarship and Eagle Scout Academic Scholarship applications can be found at www.nesa.org starting October 1, 2011. There are also religious, civic and institution-specific scholarships available. Community Service Request Form available
