The Assistant Scoutmaster is at least 18 years old and is recruited by the Scoutmaster with the assistance of the Troop Committee. Each assistant Scoutmaster is assigned specific program duties.  They also provide the required two-deep leadership standards set by the Boy Scouts of America.

The 396 Knot Book

This contains graphics large enough that 3/8" diameter rope can be tied on top of the drawings.

Mr. Browning's Ghost Stories

Be warned; these are not the innocuous ghost stories you are probably used to.  We've had boys sleeping with the lights on for weeks after a camping trip when Mr. Browning in his best form.

Leadership Manual

. . . a little something we lifted from Troop 422 while they were sleeping.  This is a painstakingly thorough book of job descriptions for Scout leadership positions.  It is in Adobe format because it's too big for a web page.

Troop Handbook

The long-winded version of what we're about.  A lot of this web site is excerpted from our handbook.  It is aimed primarily at defining policy and answering the new Scouts' questions.  Like the Leadership Manual above, this link opens an Adobe file because the book is a little large for a normal web page.   It would take too long to open.

Advancement

Taken from our Troop Handbook, here's where you'll find out about ranks and merit badges, and how to earn them.  There are also a few paragraphs on leadership and the all-important goals for the "first year."
