ADMINISTRATION

Annapolis-Boy Scouts of America, Troop 396, Code Readers Page.  Boy Scout civil war code, international nautical code flags, code wheel, naval flags and signal flags.

Code Readers is kind of an ad hoc group.  It started at summer camp 2002 with the boys who learned the nautical code flags.  Some examples of those flags are up there at the top.  Can you read the them?  They can.

Code Flags

This link opens an Adobe PDF file so you can print and cut out your own set of flash cards for learning the International Nautical Code Flags.  Boys who know all 40 of them can hoist their own messages on trips when we put up the yardarm.

Civil War Code

Another Adobe file.  Supposedly prisoners of war during the civil war used this code to send messages.  It's so odd looking that most people don't even realize it's a message, yet the key is fairly simple.

Code Wheel

A classic.  This is a cutout based on the old "secret decoder ring" method where concentric wheels with letters and numbers may be aligned in different ways.
