Jim Zuniga came to Troop 3 in 1992 when his son Greg joined Boy Scouts.
Jim was always there whenever his help was needed. When his
son Joseph also joined, he decided to be a part of the troop himself and
took on the position of Assistant Scoutmaster.
Jim was very dedicated to Troop 3. He spent many hours teaching the boys
how to tie their knots and lashings, how to set up a campsite, and how to
cook their meals.
You could always find Jim sitting around the camp fire, carving a piece
of wood or just laughing and joking around. He was a very modest man,
rarely taking credit for the contributions he made to the troop.
With great pride and pleasure, both of Jim's sons became Eagle Scouts.
Those who knew Jim will never forget him, and for those who never met him,
you missed a very special person.
Since 2000, Troop 3 has honored his memory by awarding the "James Zuniga Memorial Campership Award for Advancement" to a deserving
Scout in the Troop.
