Eli BEAMAN (1813-)
1B2A. Eli BEAMAN was born in 1813, probably in North Carolina. He moved from Montgomery County North Carolina to Owen County, Indiana in 1823 according to the record in his Bible.
Samuel acquired 40 acres on the edge of Jackson Township (Township 11 North, Range 4 West, Southwest quarter of Southwest quarter of Section 9), Owen County, in September 1836.
On January 22, 1843, Eli was ordained as a deacon in the "Little Flock Baptist Church" which was formed the year before, mostly by BEAMANs.
Eli acquired the adjacent plot of land to the north on the edge of Jackson (Township 11 North, Range 4 West, Northwest quarter of Northwest quarter of Section 9) from his cousin, Alvin, in January 1849.
Edith (BEAMAN) HICKS
1B2B. Edith BEAMAN married Reuben HICKS and lived in Knox Township, Clarke County, Iowa by 1856. They moved to Long Creek Township, Decatur County, Iowa by 1860. The HICKS moved again to Maple Township, Monona County, Iowa by 1870.
Samuel BEAMAN
1B2C. Samuel BEAMAN was born in either 1817 or 1818 in North Carolina and moved to Owen County, Indiana with his parents in 1823 or 1824. Samuel married Lucinda and had at least 8 children:

Samuel bought half of an 80-acre parcel of land in Morgan Township (SE/NE/S21/T11N/R4W), near Atkinsonville, from his brother, Bryant, in October 1848. Samuel sold the parcel in March 1852 to Abraham COFFMAN.
In the 1850 census, William Casbell BEAMAN was living with Samuel. William's relation is unknown, but in the 1856 and 1860 censuses, William lived with Samuel's sister, Catherine.
By 1854, Samuel, many of his brothers and sisters, and his mother, moved to Decatur County, Iowa where he applied for a patent on land in Long Creek Township in February 1854.
Samuel continued on to Missouri where he applied for his Civil War pension in 1890.

Jacob BEAMAN
1B2D. Jacob BEAMAN was born about 1819 and moved with his family to Owen County, Indiana in 1823 or 1824. He married Rachel HICKS on March 10, 1836 in Owen County, Indiana. They had at least six children:

The BEAMANs lived in Jackson Township, Owen County, near his brother Eli, Uncle Samuel, and cousin Mary (BEAMAN) PARISH[Cen 1850].
The BEAMANs moved to Pleasant Grove Township, Marion County, Iowa by 1854.
Rachel (HICKS) BEAMAN died about 1855. She was only about 34 years old.
Jacob resettled in Long Creek Township, Decatur County, Iowa by 1860[Cen 1860], leaving his children scattered through Pleasant Grove, Franklin, and Union townships.

Bryant BEAMAN
1B2E. Bryant BEAMAN was probably born in North Carolina. He married Dicy.
He moved with his father to Owen County, Indiana in 1823 or 1824.
Bryant bought 80 acres of land in Morgan Township, near Atkinsonville, in January 1848 from his step-father, Noah RANDALL. Noah originally bought the land in 1846 from Willis and Nancy REYNOLDS. In October 1848, Bryant sold half the land (Township 11 North, Range 4 West, Southeast quarter of Northeast quarter of Section 21) to his younger brother, Samuel.
Bryant, many of his brothers and sisters, and his mother, moved to Decatur County, Iowa where they settled in Long Creek Township by 1856, but by 1860, he, his sister Catherine and her family, resettled in Otter Township, Warren County, Iowa. Bryant and Dicy moved to Morgan Township, Harrison County, Iowa by 1864 and on to Raglan Township, Harrison County by 1870.
Ezekiel BEAMAN4 (~1827-1865)
1B2F. Ezekiel BEAMAN4 was born around 1827 in Owen County, Indiana. He married Mary "Polly" NICHOLS on March 19, 1843 in Owen County. They had as many as ten children:

The family left Owen County by 1854 and moved to Decatur County, Iowa. In 1856 they lived in Long Creek Township next to his brothers, sisters, and mother. By 1860 they lived in Union Township, Warren County, Iowa and probably moved to Doyle Township, Clarke County, Iowa in the early 1860s.
Ezekiel BEAMAN died on December 7, 1865, like in Clarke County. He is buried at Hopeville Cemetery in Doyle Township.
After Ezekiel's death, Mary continued to live in Doyle Township[Cen 1870]. She later remarried to Robert COMBS after 1870.
Mary "Polly" (NICHOLS BEAMAN) COMBS probably died in 1892 in Clarke County.
Mary Ann (BEAMAN BLADES) NAPIER (~1831-)
1B2G. Mary Ann BEAMAN was probably born between 1831 and 1835. She was baptized on 2 September 1849 along with her sisters, Patsy and Catherine, at Union Baptist Church. She married Jehu (John) BLADES around 1855, probably in Decatur County, Iowa. They had at least one daughter:

Mary Ann, many of her brothers and sisters, and her mother, moved to Decatur County, Iowa where they settled in Long Creek Township by 1856.
Jehu died in 1878 and afterward Mary Ann moved to be with her family in Harrison County, Iowa and remarried there to James NAPIER in 1882.
Patsy (Martha) (BEAMAN) BARGER (~1831-)
1B2H. Patsy (Martha) BEAMAN was probably born between 1831 and 1835. She was baptized on 2 September 1849 along with her sisters, Polly and Patsy, at Union Baptist Church. She married Charles BARGER.
Patsy, many of her brothers and sisters, and her mother, moved to Decatur County, Iowa where they settled in Long Creek Township by 1856. By 1870, the BARGERs followed Catherine's brother, Bryant, to Harrison County, Iowa and settled in Morgan Township.
Catherine (BEAMAN) CLINKENBEARD (~1831-)
1B2I. Catherine BEAMAN was probably born between 1831 and 1835. She was baptized on September 2, 1849 along with her sisters, Mary Ann and Patsy, at Union Baptist Church. She married Emsley CLINKENBEARD.
Catherine, her mother and step-father, and many of her brothers and sisters moved to Decatur County, Iowa where they settled in Long Creek Township by 1856. Catherine's mother and step-father lived with her at this time along with William Casbell BEAMAN. It is still unknown how William relates to the family, but there is a likelihood he is an illegitimate son of Catherine's or one of her sisters.
The CLINKENBEARDs and Catherine's mother, step-father, and William Casbell moved to Otter Township, Warren County, Iowa by 1860 where her brother, Bryant lived nearby. By 1870, Catherine's family and mother followed Bryant to Raglan Township, Harrison County, Iowa.
John W. BEAMAN
1B2J. John W. BEAMAN moved with many of his brothers and sisters and mother to Decatur County, Iowa around 1853. He applied for several land patents in 1853 and 1854 in Long Creek and Richland townships but returned to Owen County, Indiana by 1860. He remained in Owen County until 1874 after which he moved to Harrison County, Iowa where he died at Mondamin.
