INTRODUCTION
Two axises movement tracking gyro
control system is a kind of high tech system by using modern sensing
technology to track head movement, the Gyro control module is intended
to be used for FPV(First Person Version) R/C model operation, a
relatively new approach that is developing fast as it is very close to
providing the impressions experienced in a manned vehicle, it was
developed to be compatible closely with commercial R/C transmitters
that support the trainer/student function.
A
typical FPV setup uses a wireless video camera on R/C model, and a set
of wireless video goggles on the ground. But if the whole system is
upgraded by adding Gyro control sensor in this way:the camera is
mounted n a pan/tilt assembly driven by 2 standard R/C servos. Each of
them gets connected to a free channel on the R/C receiver. The
head tracker is wired to the R/C transmitter using the trainer port.
The TX will then send the user’s head position on 2 axes
along with the model’s other controls, allowing real-time
operation. As the live video image is displayed on the
goggles’ screens, the user can look around naturally as if he
was physically in the model. The system was intended to be as easy
to use as possible, compatible with current R/C hardware, and very
discreet. These goals have been achieved using the trainer port as an
interface, and with the help of gyroscopic technology for motion
sensing. This has the great advantage of not needing any fixed
reference point to measure yaw position, whereas other systems rely on
a transmitter, mechanical arm or other devices that limit the
user’s freedom of movement.
The final module is available in 2 versions,
that is as a stand-alone device, or already be integrated in a set of
high resolution video goggles. The first will allow the user to adapt
it to existing equipment, and the second
ensures the simplest plug-and-play approach, where the only difference
to a standard system will be an extra plug to connect to the
R/C TX.
Compatibility:
The Gyro control was developed to be compatible
with commercial R/C transmitters that can
support the trainer/student function. It
generates the same signal that would be expected from a student
transmitter, and sends the 2 positions (pan / tilt) on 2 user defined
channels (default: 7 and 8 respectively). It sends neutral positions
for all the other unused channels. There are 2 types of R/C
transmitters regarding the trainer function. Low-end models often use a
trainer switch to hand all channels to either the trainer or the
student. This type cannot be used with the Gyro control at the moment.
An additional module available in the future will allow it. Others can
let the user choose which channels should be handed to the student and
which should remain to the trainer’s control when the switch
can depressed. This is what is needed.
Among these transmitters, there are 2 more
types: Type 2 can use their own settings (mixes, end points,
directions,…) and apply them to the stick positions of the
student’s transmitter. This is the most comfortable type to
use with the Gyro control, as the settings (end point / direction) can
simply be programmed in the TX, for each model.
Type 1 only takes the student
transmitter’s signals for the chosen channels and sends them
without processing. This means all needed settings must be done in the
student TX.
The Gyro control has options to define them by
simple button/LED programming to allow use with that transmitter type.
However, that means the adjustments will have to be carried out again
every time the sensor is used with another model. Other configurable
options are implemented, please see the
“programming” section for more details.
Installation of the sensor
This section regards installation of the
stand-alone version of the Gyro control. If you bought the VR1000
goggles, you can skip it as the sensor has already been installed
properly inside the housing. The module measures angular positions
around 2 axes, like shown on the picture below. It’s very
important to align them to your head’s rotation axes, so that
the measured movements are independent. If not aligned properly, the
sensor will report false information which is very disturbing during
use. The unit should be mounted so that it is flat when you look
straight, and the cable exits either in front or at the back. To ease
installation, you can attach it to a cap, or directly
fix it to your video goggles. That way you
won’t have to think about it again, and you’ll be
able it to transfer it to another person easily.
Installation of the camera
For use with the Gyro control, your camera needs to be mounted on a pan/tilt assembly that uses 2 R/C servos. Standard R/C servos will give about a 90° total throw, which is enough for the tilt axis. However, it would be very comfortable to be able to pan over a wider range. This can be done by hardware servo modification, but in order to ease you the task we have developed the ServoMAX module that will double the movement command received from the TX once plugged between the receiver and the servo. This allows using the maximal throw the servo’s mechanical limits will accept, usually around 180°. We recommend using it on the Pan axis servo.
TRIGCAM

The New Camera Trigger is designed in beginner AP enthusiasts in mind.
No need to modify existing cameras, no need to worry if its going to work after you put it back together.
Simply plug into free channel on your Receiver or plug in to a 5-6V battery
This type of camera and Trigger has the same shutter control features as Canon
RS60 E 3' s, but modified to be controlled by the R/C transmitter. The Canon RS60 E3
replicates the functions of the shutter release button, hence the trigger is also compatible with the
Canon EOS Rebel 2000, EOS Rebel X/XS, EOS Rebel G, EOS Elan II, EOS Elan II e, and
EOS IX.
The camera is a 2MP camera with Video capability. 512 SD card is included, plenty for 2000+ pictures.
This system is truly easy to use, and you can do that right out of the box (after a charge of course)
You can set the trigger to take pictures manually or take them in intervals you choose.
The camera can also double up as a web cam. Its recognized by all major IM software.
