| I use 3 or 4 different computers practically every day. Up until recently my main "workhorse" was an IBM ThinkPad 760CD. It was a bit heavy (and by today's standards, kind of slow) but a great desktop replacement. I now am using a Dell Inspiron 8100. It has a huge screen and is ultra fast, but it is also kind of heavy. (There may be a pattern here...fully equipped laptops or notebooks that function as desktop replacements do tend to be heavy!!) However, lugging the laptop around does makes me more productive by allowing me to do a lot of "paperwork" at home. (Hmmmm...maybe that's not such a great idea after all!) For higher end graphics stuff at work I have a Gateway desktop hooked up to a scanner. At home our main system is a modified Dell 866 with 20 and 40 gig hard drives, DVD and CD-burner. Each of us in the family uses this baby for schoolwork, educational games, and Internet access. (The old Quantex is now on Ham Radio duty!) All the computers at home are fully integrated into a Linksys Home Network. The best upgrade to consider? CABLE MODEM! If you have access in your area, you gotta get a Cable Modem! Makes all the difference in the world. Always on, clean connection, no busy signals, fast loading of pages, and you never tie-up a phone line! OH NO! IT'S A MAC! Recently, I decided to explore the "other" type of computing: Yes, I bought a MAC! Not just any MAC, but a Titanium Powerbook G4. I'm learning a whole new operating system, OS-X. Here's what the TiPB-G4 looks like: PROGRAMS My favorite programs are:
