The upgraded factory Infinity II Sound System is a very good system just the way it comes (for a factory set-up, that is!) The upgraded system has a 360 Watt amplifier, and 11 speakers in all. It has an AM/FM/Cassette/CD player with integrated equalizer controls.

PIONEER CD-CHANGER

The CD-Player is pretty good, but stuffing in a single CD at a time got to be a drag, so one of my first sound mods was to add a Pioneer 12 disc changer:

Here's what it looks like (above) in the trunk. It is out of the way and really doesn't interfere with cargo. (The LHS trunk is huge anyway!)

This is an FM-modulated unit, but I have the modulator unit mounted right behind the head unit, so there is no static or interference. FM-modulated units have come a long way since the first generation units. The CD's in the changer sound just as good as the CD's in the head unit! You can't tell the difference.

Of course, the changer needs a remote display unit, so I mounted it in the empty space under the head unit:

The wire showing is temporary ...I wasn't sure about the placement:

Here you can see the Disc-Naming feature on the display unit...Yeah, I'm from "Jersey" so I listen to "The Boss" quite a lot :-)

INFINITY BASS-LINK SUB-WOOFER

The next upgrade I did was add a powered sub-woofer. The stock system was lacking in overall bass response, and this sub-woofer fit perfectly.

You have to tap into the upgraded amp to connect the Bass-Link. Here's where the amp is located in the trunk (this the better type "AB" amp):

And here's the Bass-Link mounted in the trunk:

FRONT DOOR SPEAKERS (PIONEER TS-A1767)

The next thing I did to improve the sound was to replace the front door speakers:

These are full-size (6 3/4") replacements, Pioneer TS-A1767. The only problem is adapting the "standard" 4 hole mounting to Chrysler's 3 hole mount.

The speakers fill the existing mounting cavity very well....

These speakers are more visible through the grills than the "stock" speakers.
