Sarah was placed under the ban of the church for marrying out of the
church, for marrying by license, and because her husband had not yet
achieved "freedom" (presumably from his apprenticeship) [Bittinger,
1990; citing a 24 Feb 1776 letter by her father published in the 'Gospel
Visitor', 1859, pp 170-71]. Her sister Hannah was likewise banned.
