[1542]
William at some time in his teens followed his uncle Alexander to
Washington Twp., Cumberland Co., PA. The Antietem Brethren
congregation there had been organized in 1752, and became known as
Price's Church. The exact date of his move is not known, but the first
four of his children's births from 1773 to 1778 were described as near
Waynesboro.
William was on the 1786 list of taxables in Washington Twp., which then
included also the present townships of Quincy and Waynesboro, with his
cousins Jacob and Alexander. He was taxed there in 1799, and censused
in 1800 [Mock, 1995b].
William also moved to Bedford County, as did his uncle and cousins, and
as had his daughter Elizabeth when she married John Holsinger. This
move was probably around 1806, according to Ankrum, and was in
response to an invitation from Elizabeth. He was buried according to
family testimony in the small family cemetery on the Holsinger farm on
the east side of Dunnings mountain about two miles south of Bakers
Summit.
