NSC Denver Colorado - 2006

The N Scale National Convention for 2006 was put together by the N Scale Collector. The convention was about week long, August 8th-13th 2006, it was located at the Radisson Hotel in Aurora. The convention had many big name vendors and manufacturers in attendance. Names like Kato, Atlas, Intermountain and vendors such as TexNRails, Wig-Wag, BLMA, Richmond Controls and more. The Ntrak layout this time wasn't as big as the San Diego layout a year prior but, it was big enough. A 498 foot overall length was plenty big. The club that hosted the layout and managed the layout building process was a local club named DANS Ntrak. They did an extremely good job with the set up process, trouble shooting and other problems of that nature. Tucson Ntrak came the furthest of all the clubs and we attended the show with 72 ft of modules (in the layout, not including staging). We made up about 80% of the mountain division loop which was again powered completely DCC by our Brain Box. The Red Line was once again sponsored by Digitrax and ran really well. It took about 20 minutes to get around. Which was mainly due to congestion on the track. Three long coal trains ruled the layout on Sunday. We had a 107 car coal train followed by 2, 60 car coal trains. All in all we had a great time; it was well worth the trip. We had to dodge some layout problems on Friday till 2:30 in the morning but but we did get them fixed. The only thing we were disappointed in was the time. We were hoping to have a Thursday night, fri, sat, sun running schedule but we only got sat and sun to run because of tight event space. But other than that we were happy with the N Scale Collector and the DANS management through out the whole week. Special thanks to David Porter who was the layout chief, you did a really great job. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the 2007 NSC show due to traveling distances.
