We were invited to join in on the very first Railroad Days event for Winslow, AZ. Winslow is a very
small town with some very nice people. It is also a genuine railroad town, the BNSF has a multi track
line that runs crew changes through it. Winslow is a very historical railroad town, unfortunately much of it
had been demolished or ruined without preservation. Among these great citizens is a select
few who are trying to reconstruct the buildings. The La Posada Depot and Snowdrift Art Gallery are among these
great finished restoration projects.
On April 21st- 23rd, Tucson Ntrak and Prescott Valley Ntrak combined forces to make the first annual RR Days a great success.
We set up a square Ntrak layout, 22ft by 54ft in the Snowdrift Art Gallery. A HO New Mexico 'Free-Mo' style club was
also set up in the La Posada Train Depot. Our layout was up and running in less than 6 hours with
relatively no problems though out the weekend. We were surprised at the turn out with people coming from miles
around to see our layout. We got nothing but good comments from the town and also enjoyed talking to
many of the BNSF crews who stopped by to check out the event. Hopefully we can make this event possible next year. A very special thanks
goes out to Dan from the Snowdrift Art Gallery for putting this together and letting us use his building. We loved his company, high class
breakfasts and his 3 playful dogs. The town of Winslow went above and beyond. This was probably one of the top
3 events we have been to. The SnowDrift Art Gallery website is below if you would like to see historic
Winslow.
