Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) Are these wires really made of plastic and not metal? Yes, the 'wire' part of the guide is made of flexible ABS as of June 2008. How long can I expect the plastic wires to last? Lifespan will vary depending on usage conditions and exposure to sun/heat/cold. My personal set was made in 1997 and was used for about 5 years. Where do I get replacement tubing or wires? Additional replacement connector tubing (connects wires to screw) are free. Contact Tuffmutt with the number you need. Replacement wires are also available at $1 each plus shipping. You may be able to find replacements locally - take a sample to your local plastics supplier as several different materials may work. One of the wires 'pops' off too easily. How can I fix this? Try moving the wire to another position or even upside down. If that doesn't help, contact Tuffmutt for a replacement endpiece. Do these wires 'droop' to the ground like some plastic wires do? These wires hold their shape well. However, if they are left on the poles for months at a time you may notice some droop. Merely remove the wire, turn it over and re-attach. My poles are 1/2" PVC. How can I make the wires fit? The wires are designed to clip on 3/4" PVC. You can add 3/4" 'sleeves' to slide over your 1/2" poles. I'm not sure what size my pvc poles are, how can I tell? Measure the outer diameter of your poles and compare to the specification chart from Harvel Plastic listed above.  3/4" pvc measures 1.05" outer diameter. How do I set up the wires?
