In and Around Boston

Situated on a magnificent natural harbor fed by the tranquil Charles River, Boston boasts a cosmopolitan center mixed with Old World charm.  Historic Cambridge and Harvard University overlook Boston on one side of the Charles while Harvard Medical School and its affiliated medical centers stand close to the city proper. The symposium is being held at The Westin Copley Place Boston, which is located in the heart of the shopping and historic area of the city.  The hotel is within walking distance of the Freedom Trail, Boston Common and Public Gardens, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the financial district and Boston Harbor. Other close attractions include: the Boston Museum of Science, the Museum of Fine Arts, the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum, the New England Aquarium, the Old North Church, the USS Constitution ("Old Ironsides"), as well as the MIT and Harvard University campuses and Harvard Square.

Boston and Cambridge are a short drive from some of New England's most popular vacation destinations such as Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Vermont, and the coast of Maine. Conference participants are encouraged to bring their families and enjoy the rich heritage and splendid beauty of the New England Area.

With its abundance of flowering trees, Boston is at its best in late spring, May and June.  There are concerts on the Esplanade, harbor cruises, and sidewalk cafes. The temperature for early June ranges from a high of 67-77 F (19-25 C) to lows of 50-59 F (10-15 C).
