Prayer Journal Helps and Printables

The Lord has blessed me with precious children to train for his service. I was not discipled as a young Christian. I was in my 30's when I learned about a prayer journal and I am so thankful that I did. It has been such a blessing to keep a journal of prayer requests.
I believe it is important to train our children to have a quiet time so they will not be trying to develop a new habit when they are adults. The things we learn when we are young usually stay with us.
The journal is an encouragement when you are discouraged. You can look back through it and see the prayers which were answered. You can also evaluate your prayer life, for example, I noticed that the prayer requests I had asked God to grant 'soon' seemed to have taken a long time to come to pass. I don't ask God for "soon" answers to prayers anymore.
You can have your child color these cover pages and glue them on a divider page or attach a sticky note to the edge of the page to make a divider page. Punch holes in them and place them in a notebook. When a prayer is answered use a highlighter to mark through the request.
What a heritage they will have for their families to have built their lives on prayer and Bible reading since they were children.
The Prayer Life course suggests praying for different topics on different days of the week. This has really helped me stay focused and not be overwhelmed by such a long prayer list. Using a 3 ring binder is helpful because you can have a different sheet of paper for each family member, and it is much easier than flipping through a spiral notebook to find a particular person's prayer request to mark it off.
