Good evening all. My new chemo didn't go very well yesterday. A 2
1/2 hour procedure wound up taking 6 1/2 hours. The lab took an hour
and a half to process my blood. The Pharmacy took another hour to
make up my dose. Then they finally got started. After one hour of
the pump I began to get some side effects. The first symptom was
runny eyes and nose, then I began a cold sweat. Finally I got the
stomach cramps. They had to stop the pump, give me a shot to relieve
the symptoms and wait until the symptoms disappeared before they
could restart the pump. At the very end, I developed a very rare
side effect, itching. I felt like I had fleas. I itched all over.
They had to again shut things down, give me oxygen and the doctor
had to examine me for rash. I didn't have one, but the itching went
on for what seemed to be forever. They gave me liquid
Benadryl
pumped directly into my veins. That took another half hour. Then
they had to flush the lines, flush the port and remove the needle.
After a while the Benadryl got the itching under control. Needless
to say it was not one of my better days. I feel fine today, thank
God, and have done A lot of writing for the Harem thread. Take care
